Gail Heather Smith

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Gail Heather Smith (née Blair) on January 31, 2024, in Surrey, BC, at the age of 82. Gail was born on March 27, 1941 in Geraldton, Ontario. At the age of 4, Gail and her family came by train to live in BC. She grew up in Vancouver and Burnaby, attending Tecumseh, McPherson Park and Burnaby South High School. She married William (Bill) Smith on June 25, 1960 and they raised their family in Burnaby. Gail will be remembered most for her love of family. She was loving, giving, kind, honest and brave. She enjoyed children, reading, gardening and crafting. Her greatest passion was travel, and she visited all over Canada and many international countries. She worked at Royal Columbian Hospital as a Staffing Clerk until she retired in 2000. Gail is predeceased by her husband, Bill, her parents, Harvey and Winnifred Blair, and her siblings, Ron, Bernard, Winnifred, Douglas and Clifford. Gail is survived by her children, Doug, Carolynn (Will), Deanna (Greg), her grandchildren, Spencer, Averi, Keira, Makenna, her great-granddaughters, Kinsley and Emery, her nephew, Jim, her niece, Lorraine, and many other loved family members and friends. Gail was the heart of our family and will be forever missed.

A memorial and reception will be held on Saturday, April 6 at 1:00 pm at First Memorial Funeral Services Fraser Heights Chapel, 14835 Fraser Highway, Surrey, BC.
