We would like to thank everyone for being here. It means so much to us. We know our Dad in someway has inspired each of you with his charismatic, charm and witty personality. He was known to be a very kind and amazing man.
He was born in Vancouver BC in 1955. His parents, Lali and Beer, were one of the first Indo Indians to come to Canada. They came from originally from Singapore by boat. Our Dada, Dads Father, was the chef on the boat, and our Dadi, Dads Mother, was a War Nurse. They came to Canada in the 1930s which makes Dad and his little brother, Uncle Nick second Generation. Uncle Nick married our Auntie Prem whose children are Jen, Rick and Kevin.
Dad got married to our Mom, Sarbjit in 1972 where they started a family in New Westminster. They briefly moved to Vancouver, then to Langley, where we resided for most of our lives. After many years of labor intense working at the saw mill, Dad pursued a profession in becoming a successful Realtor. He also dabbled in building homes on the side which allowed him to build his dream home for the entire family.
Dad had many, many stories as you all know! He was quite the rebel at an early age! Backing into the house with his Dads car when he was too young to drive! Also deciding one day it was a good idea to roll a bunch of tires down a steep hill, that led to a busy road which caused a huge car pile up! He told us he got a good spanking after those shenanigans! Partying with his buddies on Davie Street which used to be Hastings Street back in the days, waking up in a cemetery after partying! He always walked on the wild side!
Dad definitely loved the beach. He loved going to Goa India. Sometimes he would go off the grid so he can be one with nature. On the other hand, he made friends with so many people all around the world. Another favorite place for Dad was Mexico. The Pacific and Caribbean. But his favorite place was Puerto Vallarta, as it was his and Cheryl’s vacation spot whom he had met later on in life.
Just put him anywhere near the ocean and sand where he would be so happy, like it was his paradise on earth.
So many stories that we can go on and on about. We wish he could be here, right now, telling us just one more.
Dad, you were our rock, our life line, our best friend . We will never forget your words of wisdom which was to always forgive and forget. That always resonated with us. No matter what, Dad always showed us unconditional love. He would say I love you at least 10 times a day to each of us, so we would never forget. He was always proud of whatever we did in life but would also give us long lecture if required. Especially when it came to our report cards! We would have to wait, one by one, to show our report card, and the lectures would go on for hours! He pushed us to work hard which we appreciated immensely.
The light of his life were his amazing Grandchildren. Every time they would call or visit, he was always on cloud 9. He absolutely loved and adored each one. Goge’s kids Calvin, Anisha, and Anira, Angie’s Kids Braeden and Ethan, Kelly’s kids Keona and Manav, Neetu’s son Jayden, and Carla’s kids, Parker and Oakley.
Dad, you are now reunited with your parents, your in laws Bebbe and Bie, some of your dear friends and family. And most of all, you are with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Please watch over us now, our Guardian Angel. Words cannot describe how much we miss you. We would give anything just to hear your voice one last time, tell us another story one last time, tell us you love us one last time.
All we have now to carry on your legacy are your memories, which we will always cherish.
We love you Dad, always and forever. Love, Goge, Angie, Kelly and Neetu.
A funeral service for Gurdave will be held Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at First Memorial Funeral Services, Fraser Heights Chapel, 14835 Fraser Highway, Surrey, BC V3R3N6.
