Helene Riad Malek

Helene was an amazing woman who loved life, people and never talked poorly about anyone, she was loved by everyone who met her. Helene passed peacefully near friends and family on Tuesday March 26, 2019 in Richmond General Hospital. Helene was married to Frank Malek in 1965 and was a devoted wife until his death in 2015. They moved from Cairo, Egypt to Richmond, BC in October 1969 in search for a better life. Mom worked in Steveston for many years with either her bottle depot or grocery store on Chatham Street. She eventually sold her business and worked at the Bay as a sales clerk in the ladies’ department. Helene was known fondly for her friendly advice and special care to all her customers. Well-travelled throughout the world she really enjoyed visiting relatives in Egypt, Toronto and US. Helene enjoyed making traditional Egyptian food and forever entertaining at her house for all to enjoy. She was loved by all and is survived by her brother-in law Ted, her son Hany, her daughter Dalia, son-in law Steve, daughter-in law Alicia all her grandchildren, Natalie, Julia, Mark, Daniel and Raquel. She was loved by all and will be missed by all her friends and family.
