Isobel Reid

Isobel was the cherished daughter of Alexander and Isabela Gordon. In 1952, she bravely embarked on a new chapter, emigrating to Canada, where she soon married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Young Reid, on November 8 of that year in Ocean Falls, BC.

Together, Isobel and Bob built a life rooted in kindness and perseverance. In 1957 they moved to Vancouver, BC, which became the heart of many treasured memories. Isobel was a devoted and loving mother to their three children: Gordon (Ruby), Robert (Renée), and Elaine (Brian). Her gentle guidance and unwavering support shaped the lives of those around her, and her warmth created a home where all felt welcomed and cared for.

With a strong spirit and a heart full of generosity, Isobel embraced each chapter of her life with grace. As a grandmother to Amanda, Chelsea (David), Matthew (Makena), Spencer (Katie), Brooke (André), Kate, and a proud great-grandmother to Thaddeus, she found immense joy in watching her family grow and thrive. Her home was always open, filled with laughter, good food, and the gentle wisdom she so freely shared.

Isobel’s legacy lives on in the family she nurtured and the friends she inspired. She will be remembered for her quiet strength, her compassionate spirit, and her enduring love for those closest to her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.

A celebration of life for Isobel will be held on Saturday, September 27th, at 2:00pm at Ladner United Church.
