

age 91, of Surrey, British Columbia passed away on Friday, April 29th, 2022
after a lengthy battle with Cancer.
Jim was born on February 10,1931 in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan.
He is survived by his loving wife Pat, his children Dana, Brett (Elaine), Jesse (Chynna), Sarah (Chad), and Pats children Jeff (Tammy) and Laurie (Joe). 12 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.
Jim was born on a farm in Saskatchewan moving to Victoria where he attended school and played many sports including baseball,soccer and basketball. His love for music began at an early age playing in The Victoria Boys Band. Jazz and Blues were his passion later in life.
Jim worked in banking, farming and fishing industries prior to retirement. His retirement hobbies included gardening, growing beautiful Dahlias, wine making with The Langley Fermenters, and travel. Jim and Pat traveled to many countries but his favorite was Mexico spending many winters in Ajijic. It was during these retirement years that Jim and Pat became involved in the Surrey entertainment world. Jim was responsible for establishing the “Vaudevillians” as a nonprofit group which led to creating a perpetual bursary at Douglas College for Performing Arts Students. He later formed a readers theatre group “Naked Stage Production Society” giving performance opportunity to many in the Surrey Community. Jim was recognized for his contribution to the Arts by being named as a Surrey Civic Treasure in 2017.
A month before his passing he was presented with an Outstanding Service to the Arts Award from the Arts Council of Surrey. He was well known and well loved in the Arts Community.
A Celebration of his Life is planned for June 25th, 2022 at 2pm at The Oasis in Elim Village 160th St and 90th Ave., Surrey BC
