Jack Reynolds was Born July 1st. 1925 in Vancouver BC, only child of John and May Reynolds. As a youngster, Jack took an early interest in golf and would frequent the golf courses, often completing rounds with only one club. Hunting stray and homeless golf balls was a past time he carried with him throughout most of his life, a fee augmenting activity which resulted in a large collection and the ability to practice the game he loved. Jack's inherent passion for golf would stay with him throughout his life.
After finishing school, Jack went to work, firstly, jobs with Boeing and a small company making golf clubs. As a working young man, he continued as an avid golfer and amazingly at a very young age won the Vancouver Junior Championship for '44-'45. Understandably, golf then became his avocation and after playing in many tournaments, he decided at the age of 28, to turn professional. In 1954, Jack moved provinces. He was hired as the first golf Pro. at Lloydminster Golf and Country Club; it was here, while giving her a golf lesson that he met Hilda (Peggy) George. The two were married on Oct 12, 1957 and quickly started their new lives together in Red Deer Alberta.
Jack and Peggy, with their new family spent almost 9 happy seasons in Red Deer with their son's Guy, Mark and Trent. Glaciated by the harsh winters, the family looked west for warmer weather and new adventures. The family set up permanent residence in White Rock, BC in 1968 and Jack spent his time until '72 working as the Pro. at Hazelmere Golf and Country Club in Surrey, BC. Another venue of his life; Jack Reynolds Pro Sports Opened in Ocean Park and operated for many years under the family's watchful eye.
Jack Reynolds was an incredibly caring, compassionate, quick witted, quirky, and deeply loving man. He was often quiet, and serene, content to observe a conversation, but absolutely lethal at delivering top notch comedic relief at just the right moment. In his last years, he battled a devastating and disparaging disease, but managed to hold on almost defiantly to his beloved humour, contagious smile and love of crooning old melodies. A gentleman in every way, his kindness, humour and youthful nature will be missed greatly by his family, friends, and all who have had the pleasure to know him. Until we meet again Jackie…. We love you.
Family Acknowledgement:
The Reynolds Family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, concern and kindness shown to them during this hour of loss.
" And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years."
