John is survived by his children Jodi Reid and Darcie Whitmore; his grandchildren Nathan and Jeramy Reid; and siblings Joan Hodgson, Michael Whitmore, Donald Whitmore, Teresa Penner, Sheila McAstocker and Karen Whitmore. He is preceded in death by his parents Marcel and Blanche Whitmore, brother Dennis Whitmore and grandchild LeeRoy Jax Salvail.
John was born February 14, 1948 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union and had a long career with Robar Industries. Upon retirement, he took on many different jobs and projects, his most recent being Sepro Mineral Systems where he continued to work until his passing.
John was an accomplished outdoorsman and loved skiing, golf, curling, hiking and mountain biking. He was a dedicated and passionate member of the Canadian Ski Patrol, ultimately serving on the Board at both the Pacific Division level as well as the Vancouver Zone level. Some of John’s fondest memories come from the time he spent with his Ski Patrol friends.
