It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Kathleen Marie Philips at the age of 85 years. God called her into His glory in the midst of worship and reading her Bible.
Kay had a tremendous love for family and always made room in her heart for more as our numbers grew over the years. She worked tirelessly and gave of herself so generously, not only to her family, but to her friends and community as well.
Whether she was creating beautiful flower arrangements or decorating Christmas trees for a charitable cause, tending the church garden or singing in the choir, Kay shared her remarkable artistic abilities for the benefit of others. She was a longtime member of The Gideons International and an honorary member of the Rotary Club of Richmond.
Kay touched so many hearts through her warmth, kindness and cheerful disposition and she will be deeply missed.
Kay will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 65 years, Wally Philips; her children Debra Sawatzky (Richard Hutzkal), Paul Philips (Libbie Philips), David Philips (Judy Philips), Alan Philips, Tracey Kreklywich (Craig Kreklywich) and Jay Philips; her 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A celebration of Kay’s life will be held for the immediate family only due to the current Covid restrictions.
As an expression of sympathy, charitable gifts may be made to Gideons International at https://www.gideons.org/donate
