

Kwabena was born to Agya Akwasi Boateng and Madam Abenaa Adwubi on April 6th, 1942, of the Offinso Akonkodiase Royal Family, Offinso Ashanti Region in Ghana. He was of eight siblings with two brothers and five sisters in addition to many cousins and other extended family members located in Ghana, USA, UK, Canada, and other parts of the world.
Kwabena attended SDA Secondary and Prempeh College for his secondary education. He attended the University of Ghana, Legon Accra for his post secondary education. He finally completed a Master’s Degree in Communication at Simon Fraser University. He was a lifelong learner who continued to learn most his life. He was deeply interested in politics, history and current events and would spend hours on the phone discussing these issues with his friends. He was a man of faith who spent time reading the word of God in order to grow in his faith and knowledge.
Kwabena had various careers: he worked at the information service with the Ghana government, as a teacher in Uganda, Nigeria, and South Africa. In Canada he worked in various fields; finally working at the post office as a Security Personnel. He retired from this work and spent most his retirement traveling frequently to Ghana to spend time with family there.
Kwabena was community minded. He was part of various cultural associations. He was instrumental in helping these organizations draw up their constitutions to ensure proper standing with government. He always made a point to actively participate in the African community at large. He has many friends from other African countries and indeed other countries. For many years he worked as an interpreter helping fellow Ghanaians navigate various government agencies and processes.
Kwabena was married to Dora Boateng (nee Pokuaa) for over 40 years. They were blessed with one daughter Beverly and two grandchildren Dora and Daniel. Kwabena doted on his two grandchildren, he felt they were a particular blessing to him from God. Indeed one of his last conversations before passing was about their birthdays and the gifts he wanted them to have from him. Kwabena will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
