Leona Kaukinen

1939 - 2023 The family of Leona Kaukinen are deeply saddened to announce Leona’s passing on March 22, 2023 at the age of 83 years. Born Leona Yurkiw, the middle sister, to Rose and Shirley, in Dauphin, MB.

Leona will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mom loved to laugh and had a great sense of humour. She liked gardening (taking care of her flowers – mostly petunias), baking and cooking (Grandpa ran a bakery where she met Dad). She enjoyed the cottage at the lake and loved to travel with Dad. She was proud of her Ukrainian heritage and was very fond of special occasions like Christmas and Easter.

Leona is survived by her two sons, Kelvin (wife Donna and children; Karli and Carter), Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and Steven (wife Anne and children Dominik, Josef, Tomas and Kaley), Ancaster, ON. Leona was predeceased by her husband, Brian, parents William and Doris and sister Rose.

Professionally, Leona had a fulfilling career in Real Estate. That led to developing a successful real estate investment company with her husband, Brian.

Many thanks go out to the family that was so dear to Leona. The family also expresses a special thank you to the doctors and caregivers at the Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock, BC. In remembrance of Leona, a Prayer service and viewing will be held on Thursday, April 6th, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre with Jeff Renaud as celebrant.
