Leroy Conrad Fevang

Born in High Prairie, Alberta, the son of Sigurd and Pearl Fevang, Leroy grew up in Victoria, B.C. and earned his degree in Pharmacy at University of British Columbia (UBC). Leroy fell head over heels for Patsy Russell at Mount View high school and they were soon married at St Mark’s Anglican Church, Victoria. Leroy and Pat moved up north to Fort Saint John to run a Pharmacy and became active members of the community. In the late 1960s, Leroy and Pat returned to Vancouver with their two children, Monte and Sharon, so that Leroy could earn his MBA at UBC. Leroy had a fulfilling career as Registrar of the BC College of Pharmacists, and then as Executive Director of the Canadian Pharmacists Association in Ottawa, Ontario for 21 years.

Leroy’s career with CPhA included the hosting of annual CPhA conferences and participation in numerous international conferences around the world. Leroy and Pat loved serving God and people at the Anglican church wherever they lived. Always hospitable, they enjoyed life with family and everyone they met. They were a marriage made in heaven, entertaining, cooking, playing tennis, badminton, ping pong, games - and dancing together.

Leroy and Patsy’s marriage of 65 years was a beautiful love story, as what movies are made of, separated by her death two years ago. Starting in 2019, they both thrived as active participants in the Elim Village retirement community and church. A highlight for Leroy at Elim were his daily Oasis bistro group meetups, where their ever-interesting stories of life and faith were shared together. In the last two years, Leroy and Monte embarked on “epic” road trips across Canada and the U.S.A. In addition, Leroy was an avid electric bike and scooter rider – up to a few weeks before passing! Just days before his illness was known, the entire family gathered for his grandson’s wedding and a large family visit to Leroy’s native Victoria. Those who knew him will always remember Leroy’s big smile, lively laughter, listening ear and words of wit and encouragement.

Leroy was predeceased by his beloved wife Patsy, grandson Benjamin Atwell of Omaha, NE, and brother Ron (Marg) of Ontario.

Those left to honour his memory, in addition to cousins, nephews and nieces and countless friends, are: his son Monte (Louise), and their 4 children, Rebecca (Ryan), Charlotte (Brad), Jason and Spencer (Maria); his daughter Sharon (John) of Nebraska and their children, Alicia (Paul), Joshua (Emma), David (Lisa) and Jackson; and 10 great grandchildren whom he adored.
