Lorne was born in Regina and graduated from Luther College, got a Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan, and a Masters of Education from the University of Oregon. Lorne began teaching at Luther College in 1958, worked for 5 years for the Canadian Department of National Defense in Germany; and for 19 years in North Vancouver as Principal of North Van. Secondary, Seymour Secondary and Sutherland Secondary. After retirement, he spent 5 years as PR Director at Blackcomb-Whistler.
Lorne was predeceased by his parents Christine & Michael; brother Cliff; sister Ashara; and son Michael. He is survived by loving wife, Sandy Ainslee; his son Darren (Heather); grandsons Nick (Kate), Reece (Michelle), Peterson; great-granddaughter Laurel; and his stepchildren Gary, Susan & Karen, of Calgary.
Lorne was known for his beautiful smile. He was kind, caring, thoughtful, and generous. To know him was to love & admire him. Lorne was a talented athlete, skiing, competing in volleyball, basketball, football & track. Lorne was also a published author. Lorne & Sandy A. loved to travel, and together they visited all 7 continents.
Lorne was a true gentleman and he will live in our hearts forever. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
