Marie Gwendolyn Yvonne Bullock

Marie passed away peacefully at Zion Park Manor on September 26, 2023. Marie was born in Sedgewick, Alberta, on January 16, 1926, the second of three children. When the Great Depression hit, her family moved to Heinsburg, Alberta, where she spent her formative years. After the Second World War, her family moved to Vancouver, where she met her first husband, George Dearle. Marie had three children from her first marriage: Daniel (Gwyneth), Wendy (Mike), and Robert (Gillian) and two stepchildren from her second marriage to Loren Bullock: Carol (Terry) and Allan (Sandy). She also enjoyed her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In her 97 years, Marie had many adventures, lived in many places, and made many friends along the way: she lived in Germany, where George was stationed with the Canadian Armed Forces before returning to B.C. and settling on a farm in Chilliwack. After her divorce, she moved to Surrey, where she met Loren. Marie and Loren would continue to experience new places, moving first to Forest Grove, 108 Mile Ranch, and then to Parksville. After Loren’s death in 2015, she returned to Surrey and entered a retirement home. Her final move was to Zion Park Manor, where she spent her remaining years. Her family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at Zion Park Manor for their dedication to providing care and dignity for our mother in her later years.
