Melanie Dawn Kauhane

It is with profound heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Melanie Dawn Kauhane (Suchlandt), 33, on July 8, 2025, in Calgary Alberta, with her loving parents at her side. Beloved wife, mother, and daughter, Melanie will be missed and remembered by her husband, Christopher, daughter Kalia, her parents Gail Skitsko and Harry Suchlandt, brother Mark Suchlandt, Grandmother Shirley Elder, and many extended family members and friends. Melanie is predeceased by an infant sister (Michelle), and three Grandparents (Inga and Bernard Suchlandt, and Reggie Skitsko).

Born November 27, 1991, in New Westminster, BC, she resided in Maple Ridge BC, and was a devoted mother to her four-year-old daughter. She enthusiastically shared her love of travel, lake life, camping, music, animals, and adventure wherever she could find it. Melanie made constant efforts to ensure she got to spend time with those she cared about. Family and friends were never more than a text, FaceTime call, or road trip away. Her compassionate spirit, positivity, courage, and optimism will never be forgotten. Melanie’s last written message on the sidewalk in chalk was “Have a Great Day!”

A Celebration of Life will be held August 2, 2025, at 11:30 am, Cedar Valley Church (Mission, BC) where family and friends are invited to speak a few words about a memory of Melanie, if they choose. Everyone is welcome to join the family at the graveside, Haztic Cemetery with a reception to follow at Hatzic Prairie Community Hall.
