Nelly Calinao Castro

Nelly Calinao Castro was a well-loved daughter, mother, sister, auntie, cousin, and friend; adored and well respected by everyone in her life. She was a humble woman who was extremely generous and kind-hearted. She devoted her life to caring for others.

She was a talented seamstress creating beautiful casual and formal attire pieces including wedding gowns, choir robes for the church for her family and her customers. However, her greatest pride and joy was raising her 5 children and caring for her grandchildren.

She moved to Canada in 1994 but her continuous support to her siblings, nephews, nieces and relatives back in the Philippines will never be forgotten.

After a couple of years of declining health, a recent fall at home landed Nelly in hospital and in great pain. Her suffering ended on June 16, 2023 at the age of 85 years.

Nelly peacefully passed away surrounded by her children Jun (Josephine), Boyet (Vickie), Sally (Emerson), Nelly (Jhoejo), Terry (Efren) her grandsons, Justin, JJ, Hans, Paulo, Darryl, Kerby, Keanu, Kieth and Kurt, her grand daughter Kayla and her great grand daughter, Chloe and many loved ones. She will be joining her parents Serapio Sr and Juanita and brother Serapio Jr in Heaven. She will be remembered dearly by her sister Monserat, sister-n-laws, brother -n-laws, many nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and families.

A visitation for Nelly will be held Monday, July 10, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831 28th Ave, Surrey, BC V4P1P3.

A graveside service will occur Monday, July 10, 2023 from 2:15 PM to 3:15 PM, 14831 28th Ave, Surrey, BC V4P1P3.

A funeral service will occur Monday, July 10, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Cathedral of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, 646 Richards St, Vancouver, BC V6B 3A3.
