It is with great sadness that we announce that Pavlos Fotinakis passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at the age of 90. Pavlos was born on November 10th, 1934, in Methoni, Greece.
Survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Stavroula, children Jim (Marilyn), Athina (Bill), Ourania (Mike) and grandchildren Ariana (Jordan), Stamatis, Paulina, Curtis, Taylor, great grandchild Luna, sisters Aspasia Georgaklis and Dina Karaboitis, and many nieces and nephews. Pavlos immigrated to Montreal in 1959, soon calling for his beloved wife to join him. Married in 1960, together they built a life rooted in dedication, love, and happiness. Their home was always a welcoming place, filled with family and friends gathered to share a drink and a delicious meal. Those moments, rich with laughter and love, created countless cherished memories. In 1979, they moved to Vancouver to begin a new life in the restaurant business. Opening Pavlos Restaurant in 1986, they worked alongside each other and their children to build a thriving business for 22 years.
Pavlos’ main purpose in life, since he was a young man, was to provide and take care of his family. They were always his first priority. Pavlos was an incredibly strong, hardworking, and loyal man. He was very kind and generous to everyone he came in contact with and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Pavlos, with his true love, his wife Stavroula, did everything together. They would drive out to Crescent Beach with lunch or snacks, sit by the water and look out at the sea, reminiscing about the good times they had. Looking back at their life together, you could see the incredible bond they shared. In their 65 incredible years together, they were barely ever apart. Growing up in the same small village, in their hearts, they knew they were meant to be together. Pavlos’ greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. The love that he had for them and the grandchildren for their Papou was immeasurable and will carry on forever. His face lit up any time one of them walked into the room with an extra big smile and hug for his great-granddaughter Luna.
We would like to sincerely thank the staff and care team at Fraserview Retirement Community and his companions for the respect, kindness, and care they provided. We will always love you and honour the wonderful memories we made together.
