It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Phil Desnoyers of White Rock, BC, formerly of Edmonton, Alberta. Phil grew up in Edmonton but spent a great deal of his youth with his family and friend Dan Jewell up in Athabasca. Much time was spent hunting moose and deer, skeet shooting and racing cars on gravel roads; and Phil had plenty of cars. His parents had a cottage up at Baptist Lake where he enjoyed water skiing, fishing, massive bon fires and of course cards. After moving to White Rock in 1994 he met Dave Walker, a local realtor, and they became great friends. The two of them, as well as many friends throughout White Rock enjoyed many “Happy Hours” at Phil’s Place.
Phil’s outgoing personality (he loved conversations and could talk about anything and everything) and his keen business sense entertained many long and wonderful gatherings with family, friends and work associates throughout the years. He spent a great deal of time travelling throughout northern Alberta and BC, the United States, Taiwan, Thailand, South Africa and Japan.
He was predeceased by his father, Jean Louis in 2008 and his mother, Marie in 2011, as well as his two siblings, Gerald and David.
He leaves behind his eldest son Justin (Emiko), grand daughter Leah of Kyoto, Japan; his daughter Danielle, grandson Luc Desnoyers; and his youngest son Stephen. Phil had two dogs, Charlie a chocolate brown Lab and Lulu a rescue dog from Taiwan. They were never far from his side. His “First Wife” Henriette (Hank) maintained friends throughout the years, sharing their children’s lives.
He will be greatly missed. He was a good man.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please feel free to donate to a local SPCA.
