October 8, 1969 - April 15, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Spencer Brown, age 56, on April 15, 2026 at Langley Memorial Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Spencer was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba and resided in Surrey, B.C.
Spence is lovingly remembered by his devoted family, wife Rebecca (Szigety), son Jack and daughter Lydia. He is also survived by his father William and brother Mason (Kim) and many extended family members in Alberta, Northern Ireland and England. He is preceded in death by his mother Ann, in 2017.
Spencer had a special ability to find common ground with people, and he formed lasting friendships over the years everywhere he went. Despite many moves early in life, he maintained lifelong friends from his time spent in Prince George and also the lower mainland. He enjoyed spending time on the golf course and loved the simple pleasure of sharing a pint of Guinness with friends.
A lifelong soccer player and passionate supporter of Liverpool FC, Spencer also formed many new friendships through his love of the club. He never missed a chance to cheer on Liverpool and enjoyed sharing the highs and low of every season with his mates.
Spencer had a deep love of music and enjoyed seeing many of his favourite artists perform live over the years. He had a varied and eclectic taste in music that was influential on both friends and family.
Professionally, Spencer built a long and respected career in the oil and gas industry. Beginning as a drafter he went on in recent years to transition into Information and Technology, where he worked as a Systems Analyst. He was highly regarded by his colleagues, many of whom he counted not just as work partners but as friends.
Spencer was a family man and friend, who will be remembered for his warmth, sense of humour, loyalty and his enduring love of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Spencer, you are forever in our hearts. You'll Never Walk Alone.
A Celebration of Life will be planned later in the year. Details to come.
In lieu of flowers, if preferred please consider making a donation to the BC Cancer Foundation.
