Tomasz (Tom) Jaholkowski, 68, passed away on December 12th in Sun Peaks, BC.
Son of Halina Jaholkowska (Poddemska) and Roman Jaholkowski, he was born on October 29, 1956 in Wloclawek, Poland. He graduated from Wroclaw University of Science and Technology in 1980 with Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering. He worked as an engineer for 10 years in Poland, and in 1990 emigrated with his wife Joanna and son Karol to British Columbia, Canada where he spent the rest of his life. He became a Professional Engineer in August 1999 and worked in the consulting engineering field, most recently at TD Systems Consulting Ltd. He loved his profession and was valued for his innovation, creativity and cost-effective designs. He retired in January 2024 and had many plans and dreams for his retirement. He loved skiing, mountain biking, golfing and playing soccer with Polonia 65 soccer team. He also played bridge in the Polish Bridge Club.
He was preceded by his mother Halina Jaholkowska, and his nephew Paul John Jaholkowski. He is survived by his wife Joanna of 46 years, and their only son Karol. He is also survived by his 93-year-old father, Roman Jaholkowski (who lives in Poland), his brother Paul Jaholkowski with wife Alicja of Abbotsford, his nephew Mark Jaholkowski and his niece Irene Jaholkowski of Vancouver.
Tom was loved by many as a husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a dedicated and loving father and a great provider for his family. While we have lost our most beloved husband and father, many have lost a friend and a loved one in him. He has been a rock to many, a master of sarcastic humor, and even a glorious pain in the neck, to a select few. But… those who were close to him knew that he would always be by their side if they needed him.
He died doing what he loved the most in his life – skiing.
We invite you all to share pictures or memories. I am sure that it was his wish that we laugh and reminisce and smile together during this time.
