Predeceased by his loving wife of 67 years, Justine Marie Osborne (nee Nicholson); parents James Samuel and Deara Osborne; siblings Georgina Irene, Elsie, Hazel, James and Douglas. He is survived by his two sons William James (Bill Jr) and Donald Allan (Tamara) and his granddaughters Rachel and Rebecca Osborne.
Dad was born in Vancouver in 1927 and lived his whole life in the city. He worked most of his life at what is now Dairyland, progressing from a truck mechanic to a number of management positions. He was a very hard worker with a knack for fixing things – family and friends would often ask for his help repairing various household items. Dad was also very athletic and enjoyed curling, bowling and playing baseball in his younger years. Together with Mom, Dad enjoyed many years of square dancing as well.
During his time off Dad enjoyed golfing, a hobby that he continued well into his late eighties. Dad also enjoyed doing things to help others, from repairing small appliances to walking neighbours’ dogs while the owners were busy or travelling. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Special thanks to the staff of Southview Heights and Dr. Sander Chew who cared for Dad during the last years of his life. Many thanks as well to the kind staff of Irene Thomas Hospice for their loving care.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Dad at 2 PM on October 28th, 2023 at Sunshine Hills Church, 6749 120th Street, Delta, British Columbia. Parking access is available from 120th Street or Baker Road.
