Frances "Fran" R. Chepren

On August 31, 2023, Frances Rose passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 74 years old. It would be wrong to say that Frances lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. There was no quit in Frances.

Frances - or Fran, as she was known to friends - or Meme, as she was affectionately known to her family - loved to watch her kids, and later her grandkids, play field/ice hockey as well as lacrosse; she was the ultimate travel sports mom. She earned a “mom” letter in every sport. A graduate of Holy Family Holy Name School in New Bedford, MA, Frances went on to attend St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing, beginning her life-long dedication to the profession of nursing as a Registered Nurse. She began her career at St. Luke’s, then moved on to St. Anne’s in Fall River as a dedicated ICU nurse. After her twenty year tenure at St. Anne’s, Fran transitioned to the Nursing Director followed by Clinical Director of Crystal Springs School in Assonet, MA.

Frances is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 53 years John “Jack” Chepren, her children Darlene (Thomas) Mauretti of Rehoboth, MA, John (Rebecca) Chepren of Mercersburg, PA, and Suzanne (Christopher) Roberts of New Milford, CT, and her nine grandchildren Lauren Mauretti, Noah Mauretti, Taylor Chepren, Dominic Mauretti, Hailey Chepren, Ryan Roberts, Alexis Chepren, Tyler Roberts, and Samantha Chepren. Frances was preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn, both her parents and her favorite dog “Bear”.

A visitation will be held at Waring Sullivan Birchcrest Funeral Home (189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea, MA) on Monday, September 4 from 4PM to 6PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10AM in the funeral home. Burial will be private.

The family wishes to extend our gratitude to the staff at Charlton Memorial Hospital (Fall River, MA) for their devoted care of our Mom throughout this difficult month.
