Born in Primrose, Nebraska, a son of the late George and Sadie (Housman) Dobson, he was a resident of Somerset for over 60 years.
A graduate of Primrose High School in Nebraska, he attended Wayne State Teachers College and was a Veteran of the United States Navy for 20 years. While in the Navy he served on both the USS Missouri and the USS Williamsburg. He worked as a Store Clerk and Foremen at New England Power for 22 years, retiring in 1987. Mr. Dobson was a Free Mason, 32nd Degree, and a member of the Scottish Rite Organization. He also enjoyed playing golf and bowling.
He is survived by one son, Gary R. Dobson and his wife Beatrice of Rehoboth; three grandchildren, Lynn Marsters, Douglas Dobson (Tracy) and David Dobson (Jessica); eight great grandchildren, Michael, Mackenzie, Connor, Caroline, Samuel, William, Julia and Katelyn; several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Constance Lynn Dobson and brother of the late John, William and Harry Dobson, Dorothy Samuelson, Mary Drake and Edna Dobson.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Nathan Slade Cemetery, Somerset.
