

Helen G. (Pettine) Ducy, age 92, of Swansea, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011 in the Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Center in Fall River after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Edward C. Ducy Jr.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Paul A. and Cora G. (Abbott) Pettine, she had been a resident of Swansea since 1954.
Helen was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, class of 1937 and a graduate of the former Herrick Business Institute with a diploma in Banking, Bookkeeping, and Business in 1941. In addition to being a housewife and mother, Helen had various jobs in the banking field with the Fall River Municipal Employees Credit Union, the Fall River Trust Company, and the Rhode Island Hospital Trust Company.
Helen was a member of the First Christian Congregational Church in Swansea where she was active in many church events. She was also active in politics in Swansea. She was member of the Fall River Eastern Star Chapter 191, the Swansea Woman’s Republican Club, the Heritage Farms Tennis and Swim Club, the Cedar Cove Club, the Fall River Country Club, the Charlton Memorial Hospital Woman’s Auxiliary, the Friends of St. Anne’s Hospital Auxiliary, and the Fall River Woman’s Club.
Throughout her life she enjoyed swimming, golfing, tennis, bowling, cooking, painting and drawing. She enjoyed going on day trips and bus tours throughout the New England area. She also enjoyed going to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casinos.
She is survived by one son; Edward C. Ducy III and his wife Joyce of Fall River, sister in law; Eleanor Pettine of Abington, MA, two granddaughters; Kimberly A. Ducy of Dallas, TX and Kathi A. Montelbano and her husband Dominic of Austin, TX, four step grandchildren; Sherri Rodrigues and her husband James of Swansea, Tammy Arruda and her husband Joseph of Somerset, Kenneth Thorpe and his wife Donna of Swansea, and Kevin Thorpe of Fall River, several step great grandchildren, one step great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews.. She was sister of the late Mildred Pettine and Paul A. Pettine Jr.
Per Helen’s request there will be no visiting hours and the funeral and burial will be private.
