John J. Hargraves, Jr.

Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late John J. Hargraves Sr. and Helen M. (Crowley) Hargraves. He had been a resident of Swansea since 1955.

A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, class of 1950, he was employed by the Shell Oil Company in Fall River for 41 years. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed many years of traveling and spending time with his family. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.

In addition to his wife of 54 years, he is survived by his three children: Elizabeth H. Marshall and her husband Jeffrey, John J. Hargraves III, his wife Cara, Mary H. Dion, her husband Thomas, all of Somerset, two sisters Gertrude R. Harrington of West Roxbury, MA and Helen M. Santos of Swansea, five grandchildren: Alex J. Marshall, Anne and Laura Dion, Rebecca and Sarah Hargraves all of Somerset and many nieces and nephews.

His Funeral will be held Monday, March 14, 2011 at 9:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardner’s Neck Road, Swansea, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardner’s Neck Road, Swansea. Visiting hours Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
