

Born in Springfield, a son of the late Alice (Hurley) Smith and step-son of the late Arthur Smith, he was a lifelong area resident.
A graduate of Joseph Case High School, class of 1948, he was a Veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War as First Lieutenant Armor. He worked as a Foreman at L.G. Balfour in Attleboro for 35 years retiring in 1989.
In addition to his wife, he survived by five children; Steven Norton of Swansea, Janice Norton and her partner Denise Beauregard of Little River, SC, Carol Smith and her husband James of Somerset, John Norton of Cape Coral, FL, Mary Lewis and her husband Timothy of Somerset, three granddaughters, Erin and Katherine Lewis, Allison Smith, and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 10:00AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Visiting hours Friday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Contributions in his honor may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Swansea.
