

Madeline H. (Casilli) Thomas, age 71, of Swansea, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Arlan E. Thomas to whom she has been married for the past 50 years.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Dominic and Jennie (Michno) Casilli, she was a lifelong resident of Swansea.
She was a graduate of Joseph Case High and St. Francis School of Nursing in Hartford, Connecticut. A Registered Nurse, she worked for the Swansea School Department for 28 years as a school nurse, retiring in 2001. Prior to that she worked at St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River.
Mrs. Thomas was an excellent cook and enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, and most of all, spending time with her granddaughters.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son; Derek A. Thomas and his wife Robin of East Providence, one daughter; Stephanie Banister and her husband David of Middletown, RI, two brothers; John Casilli and his wife Joan of Somerset, Anthony Casilli and his wife Rose Marie of Portsmouth, five granddaughters; Sarah and Lindsey Thomas, Olivia, Georgia, and Alana Banister, and several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Jessie Ludwin and Mary Ann Dunn.
Her Funeral Service will be held Friday July 26, 2013 at 10 AM in the First Baptist Church, 21 Baptist St., Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Thursday July 25, 2013 from 4-7 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor may be made to the First Baptist Church, 21 Baptist St., Swansea, MA 02777. Burial in Thomas Cemetery, Swansea.
