

Paul G. Corchado, age 78, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his favorite chair at home on Sunday, January 8, 2023. He was the husband of Madeleine Deschenes. For over 27 years they shared a life of love, laughter and happiness.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Pedro and Gloria (Cruz) Corchado.
Paul served 3 years active duty in the 5th Army Special forces during the Vietnam War and for 27 years in the National Guard. He was a former New Bedford Police Officer and worked for FEMA until his retirement.
Besides Madeleine, Paul is survived by three children, Paul Corchado (Heather) of North Carolina, Melissa Corchado (Richard) of Georgia, Louie Corchado (June) of Dartmouth; two stepchildren, Erin James (Steven) of Somerset and Billy Eccles (Hannah) of Dighton; his twin brother, Peter Corchado (Marjorie) of Dartmouth. He was the devoted Puppa to Djenne, Cory, Isra, Greyson, Gabriella, Genevieve, Aaron, and Anthony and loving Big Pops to Dylan, Ava, Hadley, Lily, and Liam. Paul is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and countless friends.
Paul enjoyed his retirement, and nothing made him happier than spending time with his kids and grandkids. He loved cooking and sharing drinks, stories and laughs with family and friends. He never tired of playing cards and most especially loved winning. He loved music, discussing politics, working out at the gym and taking walks.
Paul had the rare ability to make everyone feel special. Paul’s generous heart, kindness, humor and infectious laugh will be greatly missed.
His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 12:00 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation prior from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Burial will be private.
