Born and raised in Fall River, a daughter of the late Ovila and Aurore (Ringuette) Barnabe, she was a longtime Swansea resident.
A graduate of the Dominican Academy, Class of 1956, she attended the Bradford Durfee College of Technology. A sales representative, she worked in the Cosmetic Department of the Edgar Department Store in Fall River. Prior to that, she worked at Comsearch in Bristol for many years.
She was a proud Democrat who loved town politics and attending the Democratic convention. An avid reader, she enjoyed walking, the town beach and the time she spent with her family. She was a huge sports fan of the New England teams, the Patriots, Red Sox and Bruins.
She is survived by one son, Edward P. “Ted” Hickey of Virginia Beach, VA; two brothers, Claude Barnabe and his wife Cindy of Westport and Gerald Barnabe and his partner Rick of Quincy; brother-in-law, Eddie Lemay of Fall River and several caring nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Claire Lemay and Jeanne Gizzi.
Her Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023 from 9:30 to 10:30AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea, followed by a Funeral Service at 10:30AM in the Funeral Home. Relatives and friends are invited. Contributions in her honor may be made to Forever Paws, 300 Lynwood St, Fall River, MA 02721. Burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Swansea.
