

Born in Nevada, a son of Patricia (Sever) Arano of NV and the late John Merritt Rand. He was a graduate of Elko High School, Nevada, class of 1975. Timothy entered the United States Army for 12 years and 10 months as a Para trooper and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He Served in the Korean Conflict during Vietnam.
He moved to New England and then moved to Swansea . Tim cherished and valued his wife Donna, and loved all of his family and friends. He was a devout Christian, loved gardening, music, books, the beach, camping, the outdoors and art. He was an avid Red sox fan. Timothy’s favorite quote was from John Wayne : “ Life is Hard; It’s even harder when your Stupid.”
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son, Simon T. Rand and his wife Jennifer of VA; his daughter Laura Berger and her husband Josh of MN; his special mother and father, Roland and Carol LaPorte of RI; three brothers Emery Rand of NV, John LaPorte of CT, Michael Pay of MA; three sisters, Carolyn Rand of NV and Lori Anderson and Lisa LaPorte of RI; three grandchildren, Natalie, Maurisa and Teddy Rand, many aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, and special family and friends dear to his heart.
His arrangements are in the care of WARING-SULLIVAN Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardner's Neck Rd, Swansea. Their website is www.waring-sulivan.com or Google waring sullivan. His service will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Otis Air Force Base , 1 Connery Lane, Bourne, Ma., at 10:00AM. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 11th at 10 a.m. in the New Hope Christian Church, 1436 Grand Army Hwy, Swansea, MA 02777. In Lieu of flowers Timothy wanted people to donate to the Miriam Hospital Foundation, PO BOX H, Providence, RI -02901-9979.
