

Born in Providence, RI the daughter of the late Manuel and Frances (Avila) Burgess and spent her youth in Providence and Rehoboth before moving to Swansea over 50 years ago. Mrs. Leonardo was a employed as a Cashier for Charlton memorial Hospital for several years. She was a longtime communicant of St. Dominic’s Church where she was a member of the Women’s Guild.
Mrs. Leonardo was a founding member of the Friends of the Cardinals, she was an avid bowler and was a volunteer at Country Gardens Nursing Home for several years.
She is survived by her five sons Frank B. Leonardo of Milford, James G. Leonardo and his wife Lisa of Rehoboth, Brian A. Leonardo of Smithfield, RI, Dennis F. Leonardo and his wife Cheryl of Swansea and David B. Leonardo and his wife Elizabeth of Swansea; eight grandchildren Donnalee Leonardo, Laurie Gleason, Christine Bogolawski, Kara Galaski, David Leonardo, Nathan Leonardo, Dennis Leonardo and Julee Leonardo; one sister Evelyn Smith; six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and longtime dear friend John Saladino. Mrs. Leonardo was also the sister of the late Frances Faddis, Mary, Frank, John and Manuel Burgess.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 8am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea followed by her funeral mass in St. Dominic’s Church, 1277 G.A.R. Highway, Swansea. Visiting hours Wed. from 4-7pm. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Swansea.
