It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Colleen Clara Jones at the Northside General Hospital on October 23, 2011. Born in Sydney Mines on May 12, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Beatrice (Dove) Moore.

Colleen was a mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and a wife but of all these things she was a person who knew true love and gave love. She enjoyed swimming, bowling, playing darts and had an amazing green thumb when it came to gardening. Colleen was well known for her Christmas decorating winning 3 first place, 2 second place, and 1 third place in the Sydney Mines Christmas decorating contest.

She is survived by companion, Bill Kirby; sons, David (Patricia) and Brian, both of B.C., sister, Betty (Joseph) Bernon, Sydney Mines; granddaughter, Julie Anne Jones; grandson Christopher William Jones; great grandson, Owen David Jones; niece, Colleen (Mark) MacPhail; nephews, Shawn (Alana) and Jason (Sue Ann) Bernon; great nieces, Madalina and Larissa MacPhail.

Besides her parents, Colleen was predeceased by her husband Carl and brother, Robert Moore.

Visitation for the late Mrs. Jones will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Thursday, October 27 from Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. , Friday, October 28 in Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines, Rev. Peter Rafuse will officiate. Interment in Brookside Cemetery.
