Frances Mae Morrison

Frances Mae Morrison (nee MacKillop) passed away November 26, 2024 at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital surrounded by family at the age of ninety six. She is survived by her children Janice (Sandy), Bruce (Ruth), Brian and Joyce (Bruce) eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Roy, daughter-in-law Arlene Morrison, son-in-law Allan Ingraham, sister Jean and her parents Jim Alec and Sara MacKillop.

She grew up in St. Ann’s at The Point and received her schooling in Baddeck and Nova Scotia Teachers College, Truro. Early in her teaching career she met Roy in Dingwall and relocated to Baddeck where they raised their family.

Mom had many varied interests, genealogy, travel, politics, and keeping up on current events. Once a book or crossword puzzle was started it was not put down until completed. An avid sports fan she enjoyed following The Blue Jays and The Leafs which she passed on to her boys. (Thanks Ma for the latter and you are forgiven) She retired the undisputed Champ of Scrabble. She was an excellent cook and baker which included her famous biscuits. Unfortunately, that talent missed the next generation. She proudly received her 70th year membership jewel from Eastern Star in 2022. A lifelong advocate for active living, Frances could be seen out for her daily walks in the community well into her eighties. Lastly, we should mention her love of the many, many four legged felines that she enjoyed providing tender loving care to over the years.

She leaves behind a legacy and there are too many people to acknowledge. To the staff at Alderwood Hillside Pod where she resided the last six years, the medical staff at Baddeck Hospital and all those that crossed her path providing assistance and care to her, a heart felt thank you from the family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Baddeck May 03, 2025 at 2 pm until 4pm. Memories and condolences can be shared with the family by visiting fillmoreandwhitman.com.
