With overflowing love and tears in our hearts, we say good bye to our mother and nanny, Jessie, who died Friday, Nov. 4, 2011. Mom was born in Meat Cove and moved to Dingwall at a young age. Mom had a very strong faith and got to church whenever she could. She was a member of St. Joseph’s CWL. She loved seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren come for a visit. We had many cups of tea with her homemade baking and many, many laughs. She loved going to bingo with her daughters. She is survived by her six children — sons, Charlie (Marie) Fitzgerald, Cape North, Wayne (Dodie) Fitzgerald, Sugar Loaf, Richard (Cindy) Fitzgerald, Dingwall; daughters, Diane Burpee, Alberta, Claire (Rick) Hatcher, Neils Harbour, Kaye (Gary) Fitzgerald, Smelt Brook; her pride and joy; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Brock, Ontario, Christine Lewis, Edwardsville, Pauline Chubbs, Dingwall; brothers, Alex MacEachern, Baddeck, Stephen MacEachern, Dingwall; nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law. Jessie was predeceased by her husband, Mike, parents, Augustine and Maggie MacEachern, sister, Kaye Dunphy, brothers, John William, Archie, Douglas, Russell, Michael and Dukie MacEachern. We would like to extend sincere thanks to the nurses, doctors and especially Dr. Buffett of Buchanan Memorial Hospital who gave Mom the best care in her last hours with us. To the home care gals, who made Mom’s life easier, she loved your visits and special care. Also, we thank the Cape North fire department first responders who comforted Mom many times while awaiting the ambulance and especially to the ambulance drivers on Mom’s last trip, who comforted her and the family members. Visitation for the late Jessie Fitzgerald will be held 7-9 p.m., Monday, Nov. 7 with a funeral mass 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 8, both from St. Joseph’s Church, Dingwall, Fr. Dan MacDonald officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery. Online condolences to www.fillmoreandwhitman.com.
“We will miss you so much Mom, but will always remember your great love for us all.”
