It is with sadness of heart that we announce the peaceful passing of Lextella Margaret McManaman at the Northside General Hospital on October 12, 2021. Lextella was born in Little Bras d’Or on December 20, 1927 to the late Benjamin and Liza (MacNeil) Young. As a young lady Lextella moved away to Ontario where she found work in the Mattel Toy Factory. While in Ontario she met and married the love of her life, her husband the late Ronald Joseph McManaman. Upon retirement, they moved back to her beloved Cape Breton. Lextella was a woman of strong faith, a devout Catholic and a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Bras d’Or as well as the Bras d’Or Seniors and Pensioners club. She was hardworking and industrious, always making the best of any situation. Lextella was also an avid Blue Jays and Leaf’s fan. She enjoyed getting together with friends whether through church functions, and the Bras d’Or Senior’s Club. She loved a good game of cards, and loved to bowl.
Besides her parents, Lextella was predeceased by her husband Ronald, brothers John D., Alexander, Franklyn and Benjamin, sisters Marie Allen, Naish Addicott and Nelida Young. She is survived by her sisters Sally Stubbert (Brosie Leblanc) and Lenora Jessome, step daughter Marla Gartshore as well as sisters-in-law Marjorie Young and Shirley Young and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, Little Bras d’Or on Saturday, October 30th at 10:30am. Interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery.
