It is with deep sadness that we announce that on Saturday, Jan. 20th at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away and many in Cape Breton lost a dear friend.
Born to Harold and Nettie (Inch) Ball on Oct 30, 1945.
Thomas will be dearly missed by his wife Glenda, children Robbie (Jody), David (Diego), Jason and Wanda (Jamie). He will be especially missed by his 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren along with his sister Margaret Whatley, many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Besides his parents, Thomas was also predeceased by a son Jason (in infancy) and 2 brothers Wilson and Bill.
Thomas was well known by his customers with Blue Flame and then later with Superior Propane. A kind and gentle man, he always had time for a chat or a joke. He had a great sense of humor and never missed an opportunity for a prank or practical joke. If you were feeling down Thomas knew just what it took to lift your spirits and no one ever left his presence in a bad mood. He was a tinkerer, who loved cars and enjoyed nothing more than to be under the hood with grease on his hands.
A wake will be held at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, 8 Clyde Avenue, Sydney Mines on Thursday, Jan. 25 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Friday, Jan. 26 at St. Matthew's Wesley United Church, 27 St. Columba Dr., Leitches Creek with Rev. Stephen Mills officiating. Interment to take place in Lakeside Cemetery in the spring. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.fillmoreandwhitman.com. If desired, donations in Thomas' memory may be made to either the Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
