We regret to inform you of the passing of Wanda Canavan, 86 of North Sydney, who passed away on the 8th of January at Northside Community Guest Home with family by her side.
Born in Sydney Mines she was the daughter of the late James and Annie (MacLean) Blinkhorn.
Wanda was a member of St Giles Presbyterian Church in North Sydney, Senior Citizen of Sydney Mines, as well as Ladies Auxiliary of Branch 8 Legion in Sydney Mines. She liked to dance, play bingo, go to the casino (one quarter at a time), and loved to travel and take mini trips and all day shopping trips with her granddaughters.
Wanda is survived by son Blake (Carrol), Georges River, Prides and Joy were her two granddaughters Crystal and Robin (David Musgrave). Sister Doreen Sampson, Halifax and Brothers Joseph (Mary) Blinkhorn, Bras d’Or; Kevin (Marie) Blinkhorn, Sydney Mines and Bernard (Betty) Sydney.
She was predeceased by Husband Stanley, Brother James, Sisters Annie Mae Tremblett and Gretta MacLean.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Northside Community Guest Home.
There will be no visitation cremation has taken place under the care of Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at St. Giles Presbyterian Church Campbell St., North Sydney at 11am on Saturday the 12 of January, Rev Ritchie Robinson officiating. Burial at Lakeside Cemetery at a later date.
