Lexie was a beloved wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, nurse and friend who will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
Lexie was born April 10th, 1945, in Gabarus to Joseph Bagnell and Johnenna Ferguson and raised in Sydney by her wonderful kind aunt Mary Effie 'Auntie' and uncle Nelson Nicholson.
Lexie is survived by her loving husband of fifty-four years, Archie MacKinnon; her sons Daniel (Cyndie); David; sister Marie (Lutz) Bellingrath; brother Wesley (Sheri) Bagnell; grandchildren Connor and Rhiannon MacKinnon; niece Julia-Sophia Bellingrath; and nephew Nathaniel Bagnell. She will also be greatly missed by the MacKinnon, Bagnell and Ferguson families, her many beloved cousins and close friends.
Lexie is predeceased by her loved son Andrew; her parents Joseph Bagnell and Johnenna Ferguson; her aunt Mary Effie 'Auntie' and uncle Nelson Nicholson, brother Clifford Bagnell and sister Sarah Bagnell; her cousin Jessie MacNeil; her parents-in-law Rannie and Janie (Gillis) MacKinnon; and aunt Flo and uncle Archie Bagnell.
A registered nurse, Lexie loved helping people with her gentle way, calming smile and marvelous sense of humour.
Lexie spent many hours of pure contentment sitting on her swing listening to birds and enjoying her beautiful flowers and through this she experienced the closeness of God. Lexie garnered much joy from singing and was a dedicated member of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church’s Folk Choir.
Through her love of people and nature she developed a very strong and deep faith. This faith was a unique expression of her relationship with Jesus which evolved throughout her life. She was a dedicated spiritual member and mentor of the Atlantic Spiritual Directors Association and met monthly with the Sydney Local Group. People benefitted from her countless hours of quiet listening, insight and encouragement. It was her gentle and joyous way of living and being which inspired so many to live with the heart and mind of Jesus. Lexie will always be remembered for her humility, her grace, her joyful spirit and great sense of humour. Lexie was a woman of deep faith.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, April 22nd, 2022 at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church on 40 Cabot St. at 11am. For those unable to attend the service will be livestreamed through TW Curry's Facebook Page.
