It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Allan Joseph MacDougall. Allan passed away surrounded by his loving family at his home in Grand Mira South. He was the son of the late Andrew and Isabel (MacDonald) MacDougall. Allan graduated from St FX University in 1965. He was a beloved teacher who dedicated 30 years to a profession which he adored. He retired in 1995 as the principal of Cusack and Birchill Elementary School at the age of 52. During his retirement years he dedicated his life to volunteering in his community. Allan had a strong faith in God and was an important leader in every parish in which he was a member. He always lent a helping hand to those in need. Allan loved the Montreal Canadians, harness racing, playing Tarbish, dancing and darts. He always looked forward to hearing about his grandchildren‘s sporting and entertainment events. Allan was the adored husband to Peggy for 52 years. He was a wonderful father to his children Alana Marie (Grand Mira South); Val (Helen) Westmount; Carla (Dwayne) Moore, Leduc, AB; and Patricia (Mike) White, England. Allan was a loving grandfather to his nine grandchildren: Mitchell, Ryan, Katie, Gregor, Devin, Meaghan, Jack, Julia, Joshua; and one great granddaughter, Everley. He is survived by his brother Gordie (Mary) MacDougall, Grand Mira South; sisters: Anne (Peter) MacKinnon, Halifax; Stella (Lawrence) MacDonald, Halifax; Mary Isabel MacDougall, Sydney and Marlene (Dale) Rizzie, Stony Plain, AB and sister-in-law Ann MacDougall. Allan was predeceased by his brother, Roy MacDougall. He leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered, “Come to me”. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest.God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best.A visitation will take place on Monday, January 13 from 2-4 & 7-9 at TW Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St. Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00am on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at St. Margaret’s Church, Grand Mira with Fr.
