With sadness, we announce that Anne Gillis of Sydney, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 26, 2018.
Born in Shenacadie on August 10, 1920, Anne was the daughter of the late Allan and Mary E. (MacSween) MacNeil.
Anne was a member of a quilting club, the CWL and enjoyed playing cards. She found great joy in crafting quilts for her family, as well as sewing and knitting. She was known for her kindness, gentle soul and sense of humour.
Anne is survived by her kids, Isabel (Robert) Forsyth, Rita Breckon, Allan Gillis, Christine (Greg) Anderson, Rose Gillis, Martha Gillis, Theresa Lennox, John Gillis; grandkids Sandy, Rachel, Robert, Tim, Carrie, Christopher, Sydney and a great grandchild Gillis. Also surviving are sisters Veronica (late Mike Yurczyszyn), Kay (late Ron MacDonald), Liz (late Wally Zalys), Rita (Fred Shostak) and by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Anne was predeceased by her husband Neil; sisters Sadie (Mike) MacNeil and Agnes (Roy) Payne, Martha (Mike) Rodall; brothers Joe, Steve and John Alec, as well as infant siblings, Rita and Wallace.
Visitation for Mrs. Gillis will be on Monday, April 30 from 6-8 p.m. at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 am at St. Theresa’s Church with Fr. Dennis Lamey officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
