Sydney
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Arthur Gordon Taylor Junior, on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the age of 73.
Born in Sydney on Dec. 25, 1939, he was the son of the late Arthur and Helen (Murray) Taylor.
Art was a plumber by trade and worked in the construction industry, still remaining a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, Local 682. In life, Art enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with his many dear friends — whether it be at the Eagles games or at Tim Hortons for a coffee. His passions were horse racing, the Bras d’Or Lakes and playing cards (especially Tarabish and Bridge).
Art is survived by his four children, Kellie MacQueen (Allan) of Sydney River, Kirk (Teresa) of Alberta, Kevin (Marie-Michelle) of Ohio, and Keith (Aileen) of Alberta; mother of his children, Ann Beaton; his 13 grandchildren, Katherine, Kristen, Jenna, Emma, Abby, Evan, Thomas, Anna, Lara, Adrian, Darren, Luke and Dean; his sisters, Edna MacLeod and Beryl Samson; his brothers, Edison and Jim; and his companion, Valerie Serroul. Also left to mourn are many nieces, nephews and a host of wonderful friends.
Besides his parents, Art was predeceased by his sisters, Margaret Jordan, Muriel MacLean and Brenda Jefferson, and his brother, Everett.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you for all the wonderful care Dad received while in hospital and at home from Palliative Care, VON and his many doctors and caregivers.
Funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, March 20, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, with Rev. Duaine Deveraux officiating. All are welcome to join the family in the church hall, immediately following the service, for a celebration of life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Palliative Care or charity of choice.
