It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Mother, Barbara Morrison-Sylliboy of Eskasoni, on June 18th, 2022. Born in Newburgh orange county, New York to the late William Stewart and Mary Eloise (Malloy) Babcock.
Barbara graduated grade 12 from SS Stewart in New York, she then went on to achieve her Bachelor of Arts. She held many jobs in her life, from driving trucks, phone operator, jail keeper, hospital taxi driver and a secretary for NADACA (Native Alcohol and Drug abuse Counselling Association) as well as a foster parent for Mi’kmaq Family services.
Barbara had a big heart and family was very important to her, she is survived by her children; William (Natalie) Morrison, Donald (Charlotte) Morrison, Charles (Margaret) Morrison, Lori (Francis) Doucette, Gorden Morrison, Raymond (Dawn) Morrison, and 4 step children, and 35 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Freida Babcock, Faye Babcock, Lori Smith, and Beatrice Palmer. And godchildren Lonnie Christmas, Bobby Jij Denny, Virginia Marshall, Annie Herney, Harrison Cherry, Alice Young, and Levi Herney.
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Donald Morrison, and 2nd Husband John Sylliboy, daughter-in-law Diana Morrison, granddaughter Terrilynn Poulette, grandson Stephen Sylliboy and step son Kevin D. Poulette, and brother Stewart Babcock.
A visitation will be held on Thursday June 23, 2022 at the Gabriel Center, after 7 pm, with a Funeral Mass celebrated at Holy Family Church at 1pm with Fr. Antolin Asor officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Special Olympics.
