It is with broken hearts that we, the family of the late Delores Anne Gould, announce her passing on June 26, 2021 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney, N.S., surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Delores Anne, 54, our dearest mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, auntie, niece and godmother was born on August 28, 1966 to the late John Sydney and Margaret Rose (Denny) Gould.
Delores (Dee) was a stay-at-home mom. She loved unconditionally. Dee absolutely adored her children and grandchildren. Delores enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, being a champion in qualified Yahtzee, making the best 4-cents cake, listening to music, playing VLTs and driving around in her car. Dee was everyone’s person. She was easy going and a pleasure to be around. Her inner strength and humility were admirable. Dee’s encouragement, her love and her acceptance of others will be remembered most of all. Delores was also a member of Holy Family Parish.
She is survived her three children and seven grandchildren, who made up the entirety of her world, daughter Twila (John), daughter Mackenzie (Ross), her only son Warner (Audrey) and grandchildren Annabelle, Barrett, Makeena, Blazer, Catalina, Horatio and Marcellus.
Besides her children and grandchildren, Delores is survived by her step mother Gloria, her siblings Sheila (Vernon), Jackie (Eric), Marylou (Perry), John (Courtney), Isabel (Virick) Francis, Charlotte Young , Alphonse ( Annie) Young, Chuck (Lydia), Rhona (Bryan), Blaire (Tandy) and Carolyn, godchildren Noel Julian ‘Junior’ and Anthanasius ‘Tanas’ Dennis, aunts Janet Toney, Janet Takata, Madeline Poulette, Margaret (Peter) Paul, Joanne Poulette, Mary Estelle Gould, Vera Denny, Marie Bella Gould, Madonna Johnson and June Gould, uncle Richard (Marina) Denny, numerous nieces and great nieces, nephews and great nephews and all the ones she had the privilege to care for especially Jerry, Rob, Kurt, Ekkian, baby Kurt, Atticus, and Moto.
Along with her parents Delores was predeceased by her precious daughter Lena Rose and grandson Eben Ryan, her maternal grandparents John R. and Mary (Gould) Denny, paternal grandparents Joseph and Mary Rose (Johnson) Gould, godparents Eugene and Susan Denny, aunts Phyllis Denny and Frances Battiste, uncles Milton ‘Bye Bye’, Francis ‘Rubby’ and James ‘Jimmy’ Gould, nephews Harrison and Jameson and great nephew Jax.
Visitation will take place in her hometown of Eskasoni First Nation at the Elder Center (46 Spencer’s Lane) starting at 7pm on Sunday, July 4th. A family Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 6 at 10:30 am at Holy Family Church with Fr. Antolin Asor officiating. The service will be livestreamed via ETV and on the Eskasoni First Nation Facebook Page for the community to attend virtually. Burial to follow in Holy Family Parish Cemetery.
