It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Donald John Campbell, age 81 on October 2nd, 2022 at the Northside General Hospital. Born on June 27, 1941 to the late Donald (DJ) and Christie (Fraser) Campbell. Donnie was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 73 for over 50 years and the Pipefitters, Local 682 for over 45 years. He was a welder by trade. He was a founding member of the Frenchvale Rd. Fire Dept. where he volunteered for over 40 years. Over the years he enjoyed many different sports. He was a member of many organizations: Pier Fish and Game, CB Beagle Club, Seagull Sky Divers, Capers Motorcycle Club, Cabot Snowmobile Club and the Scuba Divers Club. He was an avid outdoors man who loved to hunt and fish. He also loved to garden, year after year he planted a huge garden and loved sharing his harvest with family and friends. He also tried his hand at farming. His hobby farm consisted for raising turkeys, chickens and geese. He was a kind, gentle man who was well liked and made friends easily. Over the years he mentored and had a huge influence on many young people who affectionately referred to him as Uncle Donnie. He was a faithful member of the Christian Fellowship Church and loved his church family. Donnie is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Gayle (nee Adams), plus his two daughters Heather (Anurag) and Tanya (Johnathan). He is also survived by his brothers Angus (Lynn), Alvin (Darlene) and sister Margaret (Mike Gallager) along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins all of whom he loved dearly. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Annie Mae Cormier and brother Gus (Lola). The family would like to thank the staff of the Northside General for their care and kindness during his last days. A visitation will take place on Friday, Oct. 14 from 1 until 2pm at TW Curry Parkview Chapel with a funeral service commencing at 2pm with Pastor Kevin Mattatall officiating.
