

82 – Coxheath
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a beautiful mother, grandmother, wife and sister, Evelyn Frances MacDonald, 82, of Coxheath on Wednesday, August 25, 2010.
Born in Sydney, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Strickland and Maryanne (MacDonald) Almon. She was lovingly raised by her aunt and uncle, Paddy and Nellie P. (MacDonald) Diggins.
Evelyn was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima parish and was a member of the C.W.L. She also served on the Parish Council. Evelyn had many loves and interests that she enjoyed until her recent illness. During her 27 years teaching at Riverview High, she was actively involved in many extra-curricular activities, especially her many years coaching cheerleaders. Evelyn was a long time member of Lingan Golf and Country Club where she enjoyed many rounds of golf, lunches, card games and laughs with her “golf crew’. Evelyn also enjoyed skating, bowling, curling and cards. Evelyn was an avid Riverview Redman and Screaming Eagles hockey fan.
Evelyn is survived by her loving family; children Brian (Margaret Ann); Danette (Kevin MacRae); Mark (Peggy); Lezlie (Terry Pimentel); grandchildren Rosalyn, Thomas and Patricia MacDonald; Stuart and Patrick MacRae; Brad, Steven and Jaime MacDonald; Katherine and Cameron Pimentel; sister Genevieve (Walter MacKinnon) and brother Michael (Alice) Almon.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of sixty years Daniel Joseph MacDonald, her brother Daniel Almon and sister Theresa ‘Tessie’ MacDonald.
Visitation for Evelyn will be at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel on Monday, August 30 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. with a funeral mass on Tuesday, August 31 at 11 am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Sydney River.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society or Palliative Care.
