Frederick Joseph Martin, 71 of Whitney Pier passed away on November 5, 2019 at his residence.

Born in Sydney he was the eldest son of the late Luke William and Elizabeth Jane “Bishop” Martin.

Fred played guitar, sang like Neil Young and he had a flair for the arts. He enjoyed a day’s fishing and was a man that could turn his hand to anything. Fred cared about family. His heart was always in the right place. He was a member of Holy Redeemer parish in Whitney Pier.

He is survived by son, Ryan Joseph Martin; sisters, Rose, Sydney, Rita, ON, Judy (Audi), BC, Brenda, Sydney; brothers, Harris (Eileen), Donkin, David, Sydney, Francis (Nora), Sydney, Sandy, ON, Michael, BC; numerous nieces and nephews; aunts, Effie Hobbs and Elsie (Tom) Robe, NF and Phoebe MacDonald, Halifax.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Patrick and John in infancy

At Fred’s request there is no visitation or funeral. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
