It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Helena Joe on June 30, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Born in Whycocomagh, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Belle (Bernard) Dennis.

Mother enjoyed playing TV bingo with her son Glen and playing cards with friends. Helena loved getting visitors, especially from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a former ladies auxillary member and a current Elder group participant.

She is survived by her children, Vincent, Patricia (James), Catherine (Stephen), Rose, Veronica (Frank), Eleanor (Charlie), Troy, Glen, Pauline (adopted), John (foster son), stepson Paul (Charlene); 27 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 12 godchildren, siblings, Mabel, Paula, Joyce, Wendy, Peggy, Clayton and Lyndon and by her best friends Sr. Veronica Matthews, Viney Sapier, Mary Googoo and Loretta Sylliboy.

Helena was predeceased by her husband Levi Joe, daughter Theresa Marshall, sons Noel and Joseph, 2 infant daughters, grandson Andrew and granddaughter Katie, great grandchildren Noel and Kendren and by siblings Denise, Stephen, Francis, Anthanuis, Perry and Joe.

Visitation for the late Helena Joe will begin after 7 pm on Sunday, July 5 at her home 97 – 74th Street, Eskasoni. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30am on Tuesday, July 7 at Holy Family Church with Rev. Angus MacDougall officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
