Where to begin on my memories of Granny. I was lucky to have the chance to live across the street from my grandmother and her door was always open for Geoff and I and of course Spooky. I would always be at Granny's curled up in the pink blanket downstairs watching tv with a little bowl of marshmallows beside me. She would always have the infamous treats from the treat cupboard, but I always went for the plain white mini marshmallows. She knew this and would always bring a bowl down to me when I was wrapped up in some cartoon.
I love that she was so content when in her reading chair with a novel, and I appreciate and thank her for passing on that love of reading to all of us. Not too many families lie together on the beach in silence, all of them with a book in hand. I learned from Granny that sometimes it is nice to just sit in another's presence in silence doing something you both love.
The best memory I have from Granny is how much she loved all of us and the love of her life Papa. I think I witnessed this love more in the last few years when I would see how much she missed him and how her eyes would glisten over when she talked of him or when you would say bye to her when leaving and she would tear up and say she loved you. That stength in love is what holds us all together and keeps us as close as we are, we all love each other the way a family should because of Granny.
We miss you, love you Granny. Thank you.

I have so many great memories of Granny - most of them around family gatherings at Fairhaven Drive. Delicious home made pies, the original 'Snuggie' I used to curl up in on the downstairs coach, and, of course, the treat cupboard (all the grandkids remember that!). 

It seemed that most times when we arrived at the house, she'd be in her chair reading, and if she wasn't in the chair reading, she was knitting. I remember when I was in Grade 1 or 2 she knit me the coolest kitten hat for winter. She also knit a matching one for one of my friends. I thought that was the best!

I am thankful that Granny was always so warm and welcoming to host all of our families at the famous get togethers. It is because of all of those get togethers that our families are so close, and 'the cousins' are more like siblings. Thank you, Granny.

Anytime I would be home and visit Granny, it was so rewarding to see how happy she was to see one of her grandchildren.  You could feel her joy the moment you walked in the room!  Even the times I ransacked her junk cupboard (o.k. EVERY time!) she would laugh a little at me, but I knew she really bought treats for us (LOL!).  At the end of every visit, Granny made sure she hugged her grandchildren and, despite her petite size, you could feel a great, nurturing kind of love in every hug!

I also want to mention to all of Granny's children that I have never witnessed such selfless love and caring as I did when she became ill.  Whether or not she could express her appreciation, you felt it.  You all made her a proud mother, seeing the way her children came together to take care of her.

I will miss her greatly but I know she's in God's hands and will look over all of us.

Really wish I could be there with you all!  I miss you all so much, especially through these times.  Love you all!

I want nothing more than to be home with our family right now, sharing memories of the quiet, patient, comforting lady known as "Granny".  It's funny what you think of when looking back on all of the things that make you think of Granny, and Danna & I had to laugh because it seemed we think of the same odd things.  Like she always had those little marshmallow banana-shaped candies in her treat cupboard...I don't think I've ever seen them anywhere else!  Or how when we used to go help clean her house, nothing ever moved out of place or seemed dusty from the last time you cleaned (or maybe she cleaned before we got there!).  And how it was always so quiet and peaceful at her house, which, when we were younger, made it feel like you were at church, but you came to appreciate the calmness as you got a bit older.  Although it wasn't so quiet when we were all there for our many potluck suppers!  Besides, after raising 8 kids in that house, I can't say I blame her for enjoying the quiet and having the time to read a few...dozen...books.  I also think of her great love for her children, Poppa with the whiskers, figure skating, and, of course, Roch Voisine.  

Just thought I'd share a few memories that I know I'll cherish, and I'd like to sign off with a short poem I came across:

"Sadly missed along life's way,
quietly remembered every day...
No longer in our lives to share,
but in our hearts, you're always there.

Miss you all and love you very much!  Wish I could be here with you!

My favorite memory of Mom has to be all the family gatherings that took place at her home.  She loved having all of her family around her on special occasions.

I was so sad to hear of the passing of your sweet Mother; I know the pain of that loss. My prayers go out to you and your family.
