Sr. Isabel was born in Antigonish, NS on February 22, 1925. She was the daughter of the late John and Sadie (MacEachern) Chisholm.
She entered the Congregation of Notre Dame in 1955 and was professed in 1957. Prior to entering the CND she worked in hospitals in Montreal and Halifax as a dietitian. She began her teaching career in home economics in numerous communities including Mount St. Bernard, Antigonish High School, Marianopolis, Montreal and Holy Angels High School, Sydney. Sr. Isabel accepted various responsibilities as a CND, including local community leader, bursar, presence in houses of formation and various other ministries.
In 2011 she moved to Parkland Cape Breton, Sydney, where she resided until her health declined in 2020 and was welcomed at the CND Health Care Centre, Sydney.
She is survived by brothers, Leo (Kay) and Andrew (Pam); sisters, Ann, Mary, CSM, Mora (Bruce) Lepage; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, John (Blanche), Laughlin and Joseph; sisters, Ruth, Grail Movement, Jean, CSM, Frances (Francis) McCarthy and Elizabeth who died at the age of two.
Sr. Isabel was a woman of service and deep prayer who possessed a loving and compassionate spirit.
Visitation will be held 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 1 at T. W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. also on Monday, March 1 at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, Fr. Bill Burke will officiate. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
