

It is with deep sorrow we the family of Joanne ‘Jem’ Joe announce her untimely passing on Monday, June 2nd 2025, surrounded by family and friends at the Cape Breton regional hospital at the young age of 30.
Jem will be deeply missed by her 2 sons Jacoby and Joseph, her step son Anakin who were her pride and joys along with their dad Francis Isaac. Also left to mourn are her parents Sassy Poulette and Keith Joe Sr. Jem is survived by her sister Delia, brothers John, Elvis, Keith Jr.,Paul (Kailey) and Wilton, grandmother Joanne Poulette, Kiju Madeline Poulette, godchildren; Jordan, Elissa, and Parker, her aunt Menia Sylliboy and aunt/godmother Cindy Poulette, uncles; Bertram Gould (Kristen) Terry Poulette, Dobit Joe, Charlie Joe (Eleanor), Dana Joe (Mabel), Wayne Morris and Winston Patles as well as great aunts; Carmel Mellen, Mary Estella Gould, Marie Bella Gould, Martha Brooks, Nancy Sylliboy and Catherine Sylliboy, great uncles; Maynard Poulette and Howard Poulette along with several nieces and nephews whom she adored tremendously. She will also be missed by her dear friend Derek Bernard and many friends and family.
Jem would light up a room with her beauty and her nurturing personality. The love she had for her children, family and friends will never be forgotten.
Jem was a member of the Holy family parish of Eskasoni.
She is predeceased by brothers Nilan, Gordon and Joseph, paternal grandparents John and Evelyn Joe and Madeline and Matthew Morris. maternal grandfather Francis Poulette, uncles James Joe, Donald Gordon Joe, Norman Morris, and Anthony Morris, uncle/godfather Garrison “Aboo” Poulette, aunts Delia Marie Poulette, Susie Jane Stevens, Margaret Paul, Evelyn Ginnish and Mary Ruston, great aunts; Susan Margaret Paul, Mary Annie Marshall, Janet Takata, Frances “crow” Battiste, Elizabeth “Betty” Paul and Rosie Marshall, great uncles Sidney John Gould, Milton Gould, Francis “Rubby” Gould, James “tiger” Gould, Walter Poulette, David Poulette, Benjamin Poulette, Levi Poulette, Charlie Poulette, Casey Paul, Frank Joe and George Paul.

Visitation will start on Tuesday June 17 at 7pm at her family home, 55 Logan Drive, Eskasoni and will continue until the funeral mass on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 10:30am at Holy family Church, Eskasoni.
