Kathleen Claire MacDonald (known always as Kay), 94 of Sydney, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025 at MacGillivray Guest Home. Born in Sydney, she was the youngest daughter of the late Jack and Lou Theresa (Daley) Campbell.
Kay was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and animal lover. She had a special fondness for cats - in her later life choosing her beloved cats over going into long term care until it was a necessity, and then not until her cats had proper homes to go to. Kay loved Hallowe’en, Murdoch Mysteries, a good card game, or a casino trip with her sister, Gerri. She was a favorite babysitter of her granddaughters when they were young, always nurturing them with love, attention and a good spooky story. She spent her final years under the care of the MacGillivray Guest Home.
She is survived by granddaughters Brittani, Halifax, and Cassie, Sydney. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved, Sylvester “Syl” MacDonald; sisters Laurie Boudreau, Geraldine “Gerri” Campbell and Helen Campbell and brother-in-law Med Boudreau. We would like to thank all the staff of the MacGillivray Guest Home for taking care of Nana.
A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, 40 Cabot St., Sydney on Thursday, Aug.21 at 11am with Fr. Bill Burke officiating. Inurnment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Sydney. Memories and condolences can be shared with the family by visiting twcurry.com.
